This website centers on showcasing photographs with an emphasis on the photographer’s most recent work. I used a theme that allows images to be uploaded quickly and easily, directly from photo editing software with minimum hassle. The most recent photos are shown on the home page and are then categorised for easy access.

It has a stylish feel to it, has an attractive comments function and is Twitter and social media enabled. The posts are Search Engine Optimised, driving lots of traffic to the site.

Some of the key features include:

Related post thumbnails at the foot of each post. This means that the viewer is more likely to stay on the site by browsing onto another page that may be of interest. Below is an example of the related wedding photography posts that viewers can check out directly from the foot of a wedding photography post.

Online Gallery with full password, preview and download facilities. This gallery facility actually sits on a third party system called Zenfolio, a leading online photo proofing service. It is integrated seamlessly into the main site and even uses the same colour scheme and font.

Post Summary Index allows the viewer to quickly browse a number of posts before diving into them in detail. These come complete with “teaser” or “hook” pictures.

Andi is an artisan bread maker and supplies amazing fresh bread and produce from his small holding to some of Glasgow’s leading restaurants. Andi needed a website that both explains the ethos and technique behind his bread making and provides an extensive catalogue of his recipes.

I chose an attractive theme with lots of visual elements ranging from a scrolling header slideshow to picture thumbnails.

LoveBaby LoveTravel is a blog about travel tips for families. Anna asked me to create a site that was attractive but also easily updated. Naturally, I made sure everything was really well optimised for Google. Comments and social media (Facebook and Twitter integration) were also important for her and really make the site interactive.
Anna now gets lots of hits and comments on a regular basis. She has a growing subscriber base for her newsletter and regularly is asked for gest posts on other blogs.

Her Google positions are improving all the time, driving more and more traffic to her site. For instance, type into Google: “Keeping Your Baby Cool in the Heat” or “Edinburgh’s Winter Wonderland with Kids” and you can see how effective the SEO is on this site.

Anna also spends a lot of time creating back links, which in time will drive the page rank and consequently her Google ranking up.
